Wes Anderson: Bill Murray is ‘part of the family’

Anderson said the actor is an important part of his life, despite previous allegations.

Bill Murray is “part of his family” for Wes Anderson. The 72-year-old has been “a huge support from the start” for the director, so Anderson said in a new interview, the relationship between the two won’t suffer from the current allegations against Murray. In April 2022, complaints surfaced that the Ghostbusters actor engaged in “inappropriate behavior” on the set of Being Mortal. According to Murray, it was purely a “disagreement.”

However, in October 2022, media reported that Murray allegedly “kissed on the body and on the mouth” a female worker on set while they wore masks. However, the process was dropped for a fee of $100,000. Around the same time, Geena Davis revealed in her memoir Dying of Politeness that Bill Murray allegedly molested her with a massage device while she was working on Quick Change (1990).

Bill Murray has starred in nine Wes Anderson films – in The Deep Sea Divers (2004) he took on the role of the protagonist Steve Zissou. He was also scheduled for Anderson’s latest film “Asteroid City”, but then fell ill with Corona, which is why he had to cancel his participation in the work again.
