A few years ago, central and left-back Ramiz Hamouda (17) trained with the SV Werder youth team in Bremen. The US junior national player is now about to sign a contract on the Weser.

According to information from transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano and the “Deichstube” portal, Werder agreed to a deal with Legion FC from Birmingham, Alabama. The defender is set to move to the North Germans in the summer. On May 26th, Hamouda turns 18. A change would not be possible before that. In Bremen, where the talent is currently visiting, there will probably be some work with the young talent on the agenda.

Hamouda is under contract with Birmingham Legion FC until the end of the year and made his debut in both the USL Championship and US Open Cup in April 2024 at the age of 15. Since joining the league in 2019, no player in the club’s history has been younger in his first appearance; the left-footed player has made a total of 35 appearances to date. Hamouda played nine times for the United States U17 team.

Hamouda could show himself in Bremen as early as 2024. “Ramiz is currently training with the U19s and is leaving a very good impression,” explained managing director Clemens Fritz at the time. Participation in professional training was an exception because the A-youth had time off. “He watches everything here closely, including the Bundesliga home games. It’s about him getting a feel for how the Werder world works and what makes it tick.”
