Werder Bremen officially made his new royal transfer. Samuel Mbangula comes from Juventus Turin to the Weser for a transfer fee of 10 million euros, including bonuses, up to 12 million euros could be due. The figures confirmed Juve on Wednesday evening. It is only the second time in the club’s history of the green-whites that an eight-point amount is paid for a new addition. Davy Klaassen cost 13.5 million euros in 2018.
The fact that Werder can afford such a transfer, although so far only 500,000 euros have been taken for the loan of Dawid Kownacki to Hertha BSC, is mainly due to the financial injection of the regional investor alliance of around a year and a half. At that time, 38 million euros were made available for 18 percent of the shares, some of which should also be used for newcomers, which ideally can be resold profitably.
Exactly this hope exists with the 21-year-old Mbangula, who had only made the jump to Juventus professionals last season. In 23 Serie-A games, he was involved in seven goals in 699 minutes and increased its market value from 250,000 to 14 million euros. Juve had long insisted on a transfer fee of EUR 15 million, the Bremen were flashed with an initial offer of 8 million euros.
“We are very pleased that we were able to sign Samuel and that he chose Werder in the long term,” said license manager Peter Niemeyer. “We see a lot of potential in him. He enjoyed excellent training in Belgium and above all at Juve and proved its quality at the highest level at the professionals of Juventus last season. For us, this is a transfer that we have implemented full of conviction. We have always said that we are ready to invest if we are convinced by a player and his potential. This is absolutely the case with Samuel. convinced that he will help us with its quality. “
So far, Werder had taken it easy on the transfer market, only Maximilian Wöber previously came on a loan from Leeds United. Now the expenses rise to the double -digit million range, which has been invested more this summer than the North Rival St. Pauli (EUR 9.1 million) and Hamburger SV (EUR 7.95 million) despite nine or seven additions (income/expenses of all teams in comparison).
New coach Horst Steffen said about Mbangula’s transfer: “Samuel has a good speed. He is very well trained and tactically trained, can play several positions on the offensive and make our game more flexible.
