WEC rookie test with German talent and driver Wadoux in the hypercar

The series organizers of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) have nominated the participants for this year’s rookie test, which will take place on November 13 following the season finale at the Bahrain International Circuit. Finn Gehrsitz, a German, is among the four pilots.

The native of Stuttgart, who turns 18 on September 25, 2022, will drive an Aston Martin from the GTE Am class during the test. Gehrsitz, supported by Ellen Lohr, is driving in the LMP3 class of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) this season.

“The WEC got in touch with my team and so those responsible got in touch with me that I could drive the rookie test in Bahrain,” reports Gehrsitz in an interview with “Motorsport-Total.com”.

Lilou Wadoux drives hypercar test”

This is a very demanding track with fast and slow corners. I’ve only been in motorsport for two years and being invited to the rookie test of the WEC, the premier class of endurance racing, at the age of 17 makes me proud and happy,” Gehrsitz continued. “The hard work is finally paying off.”

Lilou Wadoux was the first woman to be nominated for the test day in the Hypercar class. The 21-year-old French will test the World Champion car, either the Toyota GR010 Hybrid or the Alpine A480-Gibson. Wadoux drives for the Richard Mille team in the LMP2 class of the WEC this season.

“Just a year ago I took part in the LMP2 rookie test in Bahrain with Richard Mille while I was racing in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup,” says Wadoux. “It was a big step in my career because I suddenly found myself in a prototype.”

Doriane Pin and Lorenzo Colombo other participants

“I’ve learned a lot and now I have a new chance with a new test, but this time behind the wheel of a hypercar. A dream come true and I’m very happy,” said Wadoux. “Personally, I’m proud to be able to show that women can reach the highest level in motorsport. I hope my example will inspire young girls to take this path.”

With her compatriot Doriane Pin, a second lady will take part in the rookie test. The 18-year-old, who contested the WEC race in Spa for the Iron Dames team in the GTE Am this season, will test the LMP2 championship-winning car. The current Prema LMP2 driver Lorenzo Colombo was selected for the test in the GTE Pro.
