Weapons disappeared from the safe of the Waardse shooting club, licenses withdrawn

Weapons have disappeared from the safe of the All Round’s shooting club in Heerhugowaard. According to board member of the shooting club Piet Otto, the weapons have entered the trade completely legally. But the Noord-Holland Police speaks of a missing person and calls it a serious matter. “All weapons belonging to that association are currently in police custody.”

A mysterious disappearance: who took the weapons from the safe of the shooting sports club on the Vork in Heerhugowaard and why?

Poorly secured

According to a tipster, the suspect file is large: both current and former members would have keys to the safe and the alarm codes are also known to many. The cameras that hang in and around the building are said to have been switched off during the disappearance.

NH Nieuws discovered the case after an anonymous tipster said that three or four weapons had been stolen from the shooting club.

“We are conducting research, which has yielded nothing to date”

Spokesperson Police North Holland

Not stolen, but missing

The Noord-Holland Police does indeed have a report of missing weapons at the shooting club. The spokesperson does not want to say how many weapons are involved. “It is a serious matter if firearms disappear. We are conducting an investigation, which has yielded nothing so far.”

The shooting club has had to surrender all weapons. “Korpchieftaken, the department that deals with the granting and revocation of so-called firearms licenses, is investigating the situation surrounding this association. Pending the investigation, all weapons have been placed in custody and the licenses have been revoked.”

“It’s about defective weapons, which I disposed of and entered the legal trade”

Board member Piet otto

One of the board members, Piet Otto, runs a gun shop in Heiloo. He just got back from vacation and knows nothing about the missing weapons. In fact, he indicates that he is the one who took the weapons out of the safe. “No weapons are missing. These are defective weapons, which I have disposed of and entered the legal trade. The police are aware of this, we always do this in consultation with the chief of police team.”

Wrong serial numbers

Otto does not know who reported the weapons as missing. Not even after he says he asks board members for clarification. When asked why the Chief Constable Team is investigating the case, but at the same time gave the written agreement to transport the defective weapons, he reacts strikingly: “The serial numbers of the weapons may have been copied incorrectly and it is an administrative error. That happens often.”

Correction:

The article previously stated that it concerns shooting club De Heerhugowaard. That is incorrect. It concerns shooting club All Round’s, which is located in the same building at De Vork in Heerhugowaard.
