After an increase in performance in the second half, Viktoria Cologne celebrated a victory against Schweinfurt 05 in the first game of the season.

Under the new coach Marian Wilhelm, Cologne came to a 2-0 (0-0) success on Sunday. Lex-Tyger Lobinger (61.) and Simon Handle (71st) shot out the victory. Cologne’s goalkeeper Dudu parried a penalty of Erik Shuranov (88th) shortly before the end of the game.

No noteworthy opportunities in the first half

Marian Wilhelm, coach of Viktoria Cologne.

With Marco Pledl, Leonhard Münst, Lucas Wolf and David Otto, Wilhelm offered four new additions to the Cologne starting eleven. At the Schweinfurt climber, three new ones started with Johannes Geis, Pius Krätschmer and Tim Latteier.

In the first half, the Viktoria was the more active team, Schweinfurt mostly lurked on counterattacks. But both Cologne and the guests lacked precision on the offensive. Both teams made a lot of bad passes and there was hardly any flow of the game. There were no noteworthy penalty scenes or chances to score.

Lobinger dusts off the lead

At the beginning of the second half there was the first good opportunity for Schweinfurt when Geis (48th) pulled from the left in front of the Cologne penalty area and Viktoria keeper Dudu tested with a long-range shot. On the other hand, Cologne also became dangerous for the first time, even if Lobinger’s header (50th) flew significantly over the goal after a Velasco flank.

Five minutes later, Cologne countered over Lobinger, who played the ball flat in the middle of Otto (55.), who was still decisively disturbed by Thomas Meißner. Then the Viktoria struck. Jonah Sticker dribbled into the penalty area and played a fine pass to the completely free Otto. His shot on the far corner was still able to parry 05 keeper Toni Stahl, but Lobinger (61st) was in the right place for the right one and dusted off.

Act raised, Dudu parries 911

And Cologne expanded his leadership. Otto transferred the complete Schweinfurt defensive with a lifting pass to handle (71.). Handle went past steel and pushed in from an acute angle to 2-0. Schweinfurt protested the referee because of a possible offside position from Handle, but the goal counted.

Schweinfurt did not give up, Dudu steered a free kick from Geiß (77th) around the post. After a foul from Sticker to Jakob Tranziska, there was a penalty for the 05er, but Dudu could parry the shot of Shuranov (88.) too unplaced.
