A year ago, Ademola Lookman Atalanta shot about the Euro League victory against Bayer Leverkusen. Now he wants to leave the Italians.

The Nigerian football professional Ademola Lookman has publicly deposited a change of change – and made violent allegations to his club Atalanta Bergamo. In a long statement on social media, the 27-year-old wrote: after “many months broken promise” and “bad treatment as a person and professional” Lookman “unfortunately no choice but to stand up for what I think is right”. And further: “I can confirm that I have made a formal transfer application.”

Lookman justified his approach in a letter that extends more than 400 words. With the club tour, he agreed to change with a “fair offer”. “Unfortunately, the club blocks the possibility for reasons that I don’t understand,” Lookman continued. So far, a reaction from Bergamo has failed to materialize.

According to Italian media reports, Africa’s player wants to switch to Inter Milan in 2024. However, Bergamo had rejected an offer of over 45 million euros (including bonuses) and instead demanded 50 million euros. His contract at Atalanta is still valid until summer 2027.

In 2022 Lookman moved from RB Leipzig to Italy, in 118 missions for Atalanta he scored 52 goals and prepared 25 more goals. In the European League final 2024, the Bayer Leverkusen, born in London, had added the only slide of the season with a triple pack-and destroyed the triple dream.

“I always proudly wore the jersey and always tried to represent the club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion and dedication,” said Lookman. The triumph last year was “one of the proudest moments” in his previous career. “I still get goose bumps when I think about it.” Now he is looking for a new challenge.

Lookman has already deleted all the pictures in the Bergamo jersey on his social media channels and deleted the club from his profile. There is also a hard season behind the striker. Lookman was mocked from the then Bergamo coach Gian Piero Gasperini after the Champions League off in February. The striker had shot a penalty for FC Bruges for the possible 2: 3 connection hit.

Bergamo lost 1: 3 and left the playoffs after a 1: 2 in the first leg. At the time, Gasperini said: “Lookman shouldn’t have shooted the penalty. He is one of the worst penalty shooters I have ever seen,” said the former Atalanta coach at a press conference and smiled easily. Even in training, Lookman only convert a few penalty. “He shoots really weak.” Now the professional has apparently completely completed with the Italian first division club.
