‘Water’ central theme in exhibition Ria Verhaeghe

Some of those photos can now be seen in B-Part in Waregem. Together with about sixty paintings and a series from her impressive collection of newspaper photos. The main theme of the expo is water. Ria Verhaeghe, artist: “I started registering the water at the beginning of corona. Fortunately, I live on the canals in Bruges. I am very grateful for that. I posted a photo of the water on the canals every day.”

Always the same subject but always different. Ria Verhaeghe is fascinated by water. That is also the title of the exhibition “Panta Rhei , Spiegelrei “. Water that is always moving and always different, as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus said. The exhibition also includes about sixty paintings on paper. “Those paintings are not painted from photographs. I paint them directly. I put my easel in front of the window and just paint. I’ve made many, hundreds. . I like that as a contrast to that playful water. That’s why I used it. I never throw away paper.”

The exhibition of Ria Verhaeghe will run until the end of April in the platform for contemporary art B-part on the municipal square in Waregem.
