The magazine “Forbes” has included tennis icon Roger Federer in the list of billionaires. The former manager of Boris Becker, Ion țiriac, has been managed there since 2007.

Roger Federer won 20 Grand Slam titles as a professional athlete and is therefore one of the most successful tennis players of all time. The Swiss, who still enjoys a very high reputation for fans, has also proven a happy hand away from the course and invested its premiums well. His sponsorship deals also contributed to the fact that Federer is now considered a billionaire, as the business magazine “Forbes” reports.

However, Rafael Nadal’s former rival and friend is not the first tennis billionaire. One had already climbed into this sphere before him: ion țiriac. The 86-year-old once played tennis herself, won the French Open with his partner Ilie NĂstasis in 1970 in doubles-his only Grand Slam title remained.

After his active time, țiriac was the manager of Boris Becker for years. From 1984 to 1993 the Romanian stood alongside the German tennis ass. So also in 1985, when Becker chose the youngest Wimbledon winner at the age of 17. In addition, the two other Wimbledon victories from Becker from 1986 and 1989 as well as the winning of the Australian Open 1991 and the US Open 1989.

The “star” said the former supervisor of today’s TV expert: “I earned well with Boris Becker. But he earned much, much more with me.” This can be questioned in view of the “Forbes” numbers. Nevertheless: Ion țiriac apparently did everything right, the business magazine included it in the list of billionaires in 2007. It is said to have net assets of $ 2.3 billion (around 1.9 billion euros).
