The film had an earlier premiere at the Ostend Film Festival, but since Waregem is Destoop’s home city, the red carpet could not be missed there either. In Holy Rosita the director tells the story of Rosita, a cheerful and beloved woman with a strong desire to become a mother. But those around her are concerned: she seems barely able to take care of herself. When Rosita does become pregnant, she decides to keep it a secret.
Enough fodder for an emotional story, which Destoop is not ready for. For example, in 2010 he made the short film Badpakje 46, which was very popular in Cannes. The acclaimed series Albatros followed in 2020. If you pay close attention, you can discover a number of Waregem locations. For example, filming took place at the SV Zulte-Waregem stadium and the Stadium Ponds. Filming also took place in Ostend.
