Yes, the Wacken Open Air also has an end. After four days of permanent slipping and wet feet, it is not a shame to want to go home – as nice as it may have been! Here is all the important information about a friction -free departure.
Important information for drivers: inside
Due to the rainy weather conditions of the past week and the enormous amount of mud on the festival and camping area, the Wacken crew faces special challenges when departing. Several cars and motorhomes are expected to get stuck in the mud. Therefore, the festival organ asks to take some important precautions via push message in the Wacken app:
- If the car gets stuck or otherwise necessary to tow, switch on and wait for warning indicators
- In these cases, please do not contact folders or info points!
- Mount the towing hooks early
- The towing must be approved on site
- Exclusively W: O: A tractor drag off
- The towing is free
Important: It is important to continue considering the parking and stopping bans on the site. According to the organizer, the police are increasingly carrying out controls of parking violations and has vehicles removed from the site. In general, the following also applies: once towed cars cannot return to the site.
Departure by car: getting up early is worth it!
For the departure by car, the organizers recommend following the signs and the instructions of the Stewards, the Traffic Control and the police. Especially the low -traffic early morning of Sundays are ideal for avoiding long waiting times.
Departure by shuttle bus to the Itzehoe train station
Anyone who is traveling with the publications: The shuttle buses drive between Itzehoe and the W: O: A-Busplatz from Sunday, July 27, 2025, until Saturday, 02.08.2025, several times an hour. The use of the shuttle buses is free for all ticket owners throughout the festival week. Ticket = festival ticket applies. The current bus plan is available here. Important: The last bus will drive on Saturday evening at 8 p.m.
After almost a week of festival, the Wacken Open Air 2025 is now coming to an end. The program of the 34th edition included Saltatio Mortis, Michael Schenker, Bap and Guns N ‘Roses, Gorija, Machine Head and many other hard-n’ heavy bands. About 85,000 visitors: the metal mecca attracted inside. Tickets for 2026 will be available for loyal fans from Saturday (August 2).
