VW boss Herbert Diess criticizes VfL Wolfsburg – women are the “ray of hope”

The Bundesliga men of VfL Wolfsburg are in a disappointing 13th place this season. Herbert Diess did not miss this either. When asked about this, he finds very clear words.

Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess has clearly criticized the development of Bundesliga soccer club VfL Wolfsburg. “Our club is one of the best equipped in Germany. And I think the performance is too weak for that,” said the 63-year-old in a talk with the Wolfsburger Nachrichten and Wolfsburger Zeitung.

VfL, a subsidiary of the group, has “a very expensive team,” said Diess and spoke of 100 million euros in this context, according to the newspapers. The official stressed that he was behind the football commitment. “I think we should have a football team that plays in the Bundesliga – and plays successfully,” said Diess, who described the VfL women as a “ray of hope” in contrast to the men.
