The bingo, which is always organized on the first Monday of the month, is very well attended, says Toine. “The turnout is huge. We play it with many elderly people.” Unfortunately for the bingo master, the bingo balls are a bit worn, but that is not the only need of the club.

“It may be a bit brutal, but we would ideally also like to have an electrical device on which the number can be clearly seen. Now everything is passed on orally from table to table and that sometimes goes wrong.”

But doesn’t the charm go away if real bingo balls are no longer used? “Well, we have a bit of that too. We don’t necessarily need such a screen, we would be very happy with just new wooden bingo balls.”

Decent turnout

As soon as bingo is played in Zwanenburg, the room is always full, says Toine. “We sometimes have to add chairs. People come in large numbers and sometimes bring in others. We may have to expand,” the volunteer laughs.

Winners of the game have a chance to win prizes, but according to Toine that is not the point at all. “The fun and attention to people is the most important. There is a volunteer at each table who checks everything. And we play it with a snack and a drink.”

The volunteers and participants would like to continue playing it. “If anyone has wooden bingo balls with numbers from 1 to 75 in a wooden version, we would appreciate it.”
