Record winners VfB Friedrichshafen moved into the final of the German Volleyball Cup with a narrow win against defending champions Berlin Recycling Volleys.

Head coach Adam Swaczyna’s team won the duel between the eternal rivals in their own hall 3:2 (21:25, 25:20, 25:23, 20:25, 15:13). The opponent in the final on February 28th is Bundesliga table leader SVG Lüneburg.

The 17-time cup winner from Friedrichshafen showed strong nerves in the crucial moments. In the third set it was 23:23 before VfB scored twice.

In the last round things got tight again after a 7:2 lead – but it was enough. Masters Berlin, who recently won the title three times in a row, lost a cup game for the first time since February 2022 – also 2-3 against Friedrichshafen.

Lüneburg beat SWD powervolleys Düren 3-0 on Tuesday and can win the cup for the first time. The final will take place in Mannheim, and after eleven editions in the SAP Arena, the event will move to Cologne in 2027.
