The German volleyball players will play all of their preliminary round matches in Düsseldorf. A total of fifteen games will take place in the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Qualified as hosts for finals
The preliminary round will be played in four groups of six in the four host countries. The round of 16 and quarter-finals will take place in Belgium and Italy, with semi-finals and medals in Belgium. As the host, Germany automatically qualifies for the final round of the European Championship.
The last time a women’s European Championship took place in Germany was in 2013. At that time, the Germans won silver.
“It’s the greatest thing to play at home in front of family and friends. It’s an experience of a lifetime and also brings them forward in their own game. A big step for us and for Volleyball Germany”, said national coach Vital Heynen.
