First game, first win: The volleyball team from MTV Stuttgart don’t miss a beat at LKS Lodz and start the Champions League with maximum success.

The away match in the well-filled and atmospheric hall of the Polish club ended on Wednesday with a smooth 3:0 (25:23, 25:12, 25:20) for the Stuttgart women. MTV actor Krystal Rivers was subsequently voted the best player of the night.

In this duel in Group D, only the first set, which lasted 26 minutes and in which both teams fought a neck-and-neck race, turned out to be really balanced. In the second round, however, Stuttgart shifted up a gear and made the events much clearer: 10:4, 17:7, 21:9, 25:12.

Stuttgart in the Champions League: superior in every respect

In the third set there were signs of more tension at 11:10 for Lodz – but the hostesses no longer developed a serious danger. Stuttgart presented itself as superior in all respects, which is one of the reasons why the clear victory was deserved.

As the German Champion 2022, Allianz MTV Stuttgart represents Germany in the Volleyball Champions League. The five group winners are automatically qualified for the quarter-finals.

New mode in Volleyball Champions League

Between the group stage and the quarter-finals there will be a play-off round for the first time, in which the five runners-up and the best third-placed group will play out the remaining three quarter-final places in the knockout system. If you achieve third place in your group, you automatically end up in the CEV Cup, the second highest European competition.
