Volendam is shopping at SEW again; keeper Reus third acquisition

Handball association Volendam has strengthened itself with Femke Reus. The 22-year-old goalkeeper comes over from fellow provincial SEW. After Joya Vlaming and Isa Vet, Reus is the third player to come over from Nibbixwoud.

At SEW, Reus was not a starting player. Myrthe Mak was usually preferred by coach Michael Vijverberg. In Volendam, under trainer Zsigmond Makay, Reus hopes for more playing time. In addition, the number of training moments at SEW turned out to be too much of a task for Reus.

“Unfortunately, SEW expects more presence from its players from next season, which I cannot offer because of my job as a nurse in healthcare. When I heard that Volendam was looking for goalkeepers, I became curious. After the first training I was immediately enthusiastic , thanks in part to the girls, which made me decide to make the switch,” said Reus on the website of her new club.

HV Volendam coach Makay is pleased with the arrival of the 1.75 meter tall goalkeeper. “She is a very experienced and reliable keeper. She is a conscious and serious keeper who takes her profession seriously both on the field and in society and radiates calm. When Femke is in goal, you should definitely think twice about what you’re going to do, because she’s fast and always in the right position.”
