Five Daspo for fans of the ideal ASD Bari after an attack on the highway on November 12, 2023. The investigations led to prohibitions up to 7 years for violence and theft.

An episode that took place on November 12, 2023 has rekindled the spotlight on the need to counter violence which, unfortunately, can also manifest itself far from the stadiums, along the streets that the fans travel to follow their team.
The aggression on the highway and investigations
That day, in the Murgia Ovest motorway service area, a group of supporters of the ideal ASD Bari, returning from a trip to San Severo, attacked some Avellino fans. The assault took place while the victims were stopped for a stop, finding themselves suddenly surrounded by individuals with the face covered and armed with blunt objects. Violent action led not only to physical aggression, but also to the theft of scarves, sweatshirts and backpacks, symbols and personal goods of the Avellino fans.
The measures of the Quaestor of Bari
The investigations, conducted jointly by Digos and the Bari traffic police, were essential to reconstruct the incident. Thanks to the analysis of the images of the video surveillance systems, which have documented the entire episode, it was possible to trace the identity of the attackers. Following these accurate checks, the Quaestor of Bari issued five Daspo measures against the fans involved. The subjects identified, residing between Bari and Triggiano and aged between 37 and 48, will now have to face the ban on access to the places where sporting events take place.

Daspo’s measures vary from 3 to 7 years, depending on the severity of the conduct ascertained for each individual. Among the recipients of these measures there is also a person who in the past had already been affected by an similar ban, highlighting a recurrence in violent behavior. The notification of these Daspo, which took place in recent days, underlines the commitment of the authorities in strengthening the action of prevention and fight against violence, with the primary objective of guaranteeing greater safety not only within the stadiums, but also along the routes of football trips, to protect all true enthusiasts.
