In the prison in Veenhuizen there were two cases of serious violence and aggression in August. The Custodial Institutions Agency (DJI) reports this in its monthly overview.
On August 30, a prisoner tried, after he was approached for inappropriate behavior, to stomp an employee of the Pi Veenhuizen in the face. The employee was able to repel the battle, but another employee was hit. The prisoner was taken to the isolation cell and a report was made to the police.
A day later it was hit again, this time it was about violence between prisoners. A prisoner was heavily hit by three fellow prisoners and had to go to the hospital with a serious head wound. The three perpetrators were taken to the isolation cell. The prison also reported in this case.
It is the first time in months that there are again reports of serious incidents in the penitentiary institution in Veenhuizen. The last time was on March 1, when a prisoner in the team room with a bread knife was stabbing in the table. Prisoners are not allowed to enter that space.
