The GVB nevertheless found camera images of metro stations in the time that the riots around the Ajax – Maccabi Tel Aviv match took place in November last year. The police had requested the images at the time, but the transport company then assumed that the images were no longer there.

In the period of the violence, the recorders were replaced because they were outdated, the GVB explains. “When replacing and dismantling the recorders, it was assumed that the images were definitely lost.” Recently it turned out that there were old recorders in a secure storage of the maintenance supplier.

The GVB has transferred the visual material to the police. According to the transport company, it is unclear whether the incidents can actually be seen and whether the images can be used. The Public Prosecution Service reports that the police will now view the visual material. “Possibly this has consequences for incidents at the metro stations that have been reported.”

In several places in the city, there were violence directed around the match against the fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv. Israeli fans also misunderstood.
