FC Bayern Munich has apparently made intensive efforts to secure the services of Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha in recent weeks. After “The Athletic” initially reported on Munich’s interest, “Sky” followed up and wrote about an oral agreement between the German record champions and the 17-year-old winger. However, an agreement between the clubs was not reached, which is why the transfer was initially put on hold on Thursday.

Bayern want to step up their offensive game and sign a backup for the wing positions. After the transfer of Anthony Gordon, who instead moved to FC Barcelona, fell through, Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven was recently considered the favorite. The Bayern bosses have apparently also taken a shine to Ngumoha, although negotiations with Liverpool will not be continued for the time being.

The English champions of 2025 are still betting big on Ngumoha and are likely to set the transfer demands accordingly high – possibly above the market value of 30 million euros. The English youth international played a major role in the Reds’ transfer planning last year when, despite record expenditure of 481 million euros, no successor was signed following Luis Díaz’s departure to Munich. In the past season, Ngumoha played 952 minutes spread over 29 games, in which he scored two goals and one assist. Next year the role will become even bigger under new coach Andoni Iraola.

On Säbener Straße you have to look for another option for now. The most likely solution currently seems to be Eindhoven’s Saibari. Bayern has also already reached an agreement with the 25-year-old Moroccan, who was one of the guarantors of PSV’s championship title. The first price tag that was leaked was an amount of 60 million euros.
