The Swiss Main Series team Geneve-Servevette HC made a tough decision on Sunday night when the club released head coach Yorick Treille from their mission.
The decision came after a weak first season and is now being replaced by a Finn Ville Peltonen52.
Peltonen takes the team command of the assistant coach, but the head coach was only temporary at this stage.
Sports director Marc Gautschi told To Blickthat the club is considering for a few more days, whether to continue under the leadership of Peltonen until spring.
In addition to Peltonen, the Geneva coaching group also has Pekka Kangasaluand as many as four Finns play in the team: Jesse Puljujärvi, Markus Granlund, Sakari Manninen and Vili Saarijärvi.
The results have not been flattering for the Swiss club. Over the weekend, the team lost to Biel-Biene as many as 0-8, and in the opening rounds of the season, Lausanne humiliated the Genela’s crushing at 11-0.
Peltonen, who has become a coach after his long career, has gained versatile experience. He returned to Switzerland this season after a five -year break. In his previous episode, he worked as an assistant coach at SC Bern and head coach of Lausanne. He has been involved in the background of the German and Latvian national teams and coached HIFK in the SM League.
