Fabio Cannavaro’s Uzbekistan arrived in Atlanta to prepare for their World Cup debut against Colombia. In the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, the former Italian captain received a tribute from the local team manager Dimitrios Efstathiou, who however slipped into a gaffe: when recalling the last sporting event hosted in the city, the 1996 Olympic Games, Efstathiou underlined how Cannavaro was just a child at the time. In reality, as he himself recalled, the former defender played in that Olympics with the national team coached by Cesare Maldini, who made a surprise exit in the group stage.
