Victim of shooting in IJmuiden has died

The victim of the shooting in IJmuiden has died. The police report this. The victim’s identity is not yet known.

The shooting took place this evening around 6.40 pm on Kromme Mijdrechtstraat. Several emergency services, including an air ambulance, were deployed to the victim.

A resident of the street told NH this evening that there was a large police presence. “But I haven’t heard anything about the shooting myself.”

The perpetrator is still being sought. The police are conducting a search for the shooter. The search is carried out here with, among other things, a police helicopter.

Conflicts in the drug world

IJmuiden has been turbulent for some time due to conflicts in the drug world. In recent months there have been at least thirty incidents involving weapons or explosives. This was enough reason for the mayor to designate almost all of IJmuiden as a safety risk area.

This measure gives the police more powers, so everyone in that area can be searched. The measure will last at least until August 1.

Shots in home

It is not the first time that shots have been fired in the Kromme Mijdrechtstraat. On the night of October 26 to 27, 2022, a house in that street was shot at. Local residents heard several bangs.

A week later the house was closed by order of the mayor. The shots were fired with a fully automatic firearm.
