The IJzertoren is a memorial monument for the Flemish casualties of the First World War. He has an important function for the Flemish Movement, including the annual iron pilgrimage. The tower also has a museum operation. The 22 floors form a museum about the war, but also about Flemish emancipation.
The fact that pruning in the subsidies by the Flemish government with a Prime Minister of N-VA is therefore all the more striking.
