The organization of the Gouden Televizier-Ring stated on Thursday that it would maintain that Today Inside has no chance of winning the most important audience award for TV programs. The regulations for the TV prize have stated for years that programs that have already won the prize or are too similar spin-offs can no longer win. “Today Inside is in our view too similar a spin-off,” says the spokesperson for the prize.
The win for Voetbal International in 2011 was seen as a surprise. It was expected that one of the other nominees, The Voice of Holland and Who is the mole?, would run off with the Ring. During the live broadcast, however, Mies Bouwman was allowed to reveal that outsider Football International won with 37 percent of the vote. It was also a first, because never before a sports program won the coveted Ring.
The organization of the Televizier-Ring could not be reached for comment on Thursday evening.
