Transfer official
VfL Wolfsburg has secured the services of Patrick Wimmer (20) from Arminia Bielefeld. The “Wolves” confirmed the activation of the exit clause that the Austrian U21 international had in his contract, which ran until 2025 – he signed with Lower Saxony until 2027.
Most recently reported the “table football“, that if Bielefeld stays up, the transfer fee will be 7 million euros, while Wimmer will “only” cost 5 million euros if they are relegated. Arminia took the right winger from Austria Wien in the summer of 2021 for just 700,000 euros and booked a profit of millions.
Wimmer fee for clubs like Arminia “always be an important pillar”
Samir Arabi, Sporting Director of Arminia, said: “We rate his sporting development in the Arminia jersey as very positive because he has quickly become an important factor in our offensive game. The economic aspect also belongs to the sporting area. For clubs like Arminia Bielefeld, transfer income will always be an important pillar. In times of pandemic more than ever. We would have liked to have gone a little further along the Arminia path with Patrick, but it was his will to take the next step in his development in Wolfsburg. We have therefore found the best solution for DSC Arminia and the player.”
With Süle and Wimmer: These top transfers are already fixed for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season
Wimmer said of his second transfer within a year: “I’m really happy that the move to Wolfsburg has now come about. In the talks with those responsible, I was given a very good feeling. My goal is to go full throttle from day one to celebrate success with the club and play for international places as regularly as possible.” Arminia are still fighting against relegation in the remaining five matchdays.
Marcel Schäfer: “Patrick fits our requirement profile perfectly. He brings power, dynamics and speed with him. He also has great shooting technique, plays carefree, creates chances and has an eye for his team-mates.”#VfLWolfsburg https://t.co/Dya8pTcEN0 pic.twitter.com/s2edSCUT8D
