One or the other fan of VfL Wolfsburg can hardly think of how the Lukas Nmecha career would have gone without injuries. In December 2021, the market value of the center forward rose to 18 million euros, shortly before he had made his debut in the German national team in the World Cup qualification. A little more than three years later, the signs of Lower Saxony are at a farewell – and that free of charge and without great sporting success.
The 26-year-old contract ends in summer and according to the “kicker” everything indicates that there will be no longer cooperation. In the current season, NMECHA was in twelve competitive games and scored his only two goals in mid -January in the 5-1 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Once again, after that performance, it was hoped that NMECHA could finally demonstrate his great potential in the Bundesliga in the long term. Only three weeks later, however, he had to create adductor complaints.
Even if the attacker missed only two games in this case, as so often, he was stopped by an injury in his career. With a total of 73 games, NMECHA had to watch in four years due to various physical problems, from thigh problems to a patella tendon tear to a knee injury.
The injury history causes concerns in the Wolfsburg management. “In general, players must be able to finish with the stress. So it is also about showing us now that he is fit enough to complete every training session, play games, to fight for a starting position, ”Managing Director Peter Christiansen had already emphasized in January. This now apparently results in the end of the collaboration, four years after the fixed transfer of Manchester City for 8 million euros. There are 18 goals and three templates in 77 games.
