VfL Wolfsburg has apparently made its first transfer for the coming season perfect. A report of “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” According to BSC Young Boys and central defender Cédric Zesiger, agreement was reached on a summer move. The 24-year-old has signed a contract until 2027, and the presentation should take place soon.
Zesiger came to Bern in the summer of 2019 and has been there ever since. He made his debut for the Swiss national team in the summer of 2021, but was not nominated for a year and a half afterwards. Only a significant increase in performance in the current season, in which Bern already secured their fifth championship in six years, ensured their return to the “Nati” in March – and interest from Wolfsburg.

The transfer fee for the left foot, who is still tied to Bern until 2025, is reported to be around 5 million euros.

Zesiger from BSC Young Boys: VfL Wolfsburg finds a central defender with a delay
Wolfsburg, who used Bern in 2019 and signed Kevin Mbabu for 9.2 million euros, will receive the desired new central defender a year late. Last summer, for example, the transfers of David Carmo (went from Braga to FC Porto) and Mattia Viti (from FC Empoli to OGC Nice) didn’t work out, which is why only three nominal players are available for the central defense this season.
