Two departures planned

VfL Bochum will soon bring back goalkeeper Andreas Luthe from 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Otherwise, it is not yet clear whether the Revierklub can present another new addition for the rest of the second half of the season. “It will be Andreas Luthe, as long as the checks are in order. I assume that it will work,” confirmed sports director Patrick Fabian in an interview with “WAZ“.

The 36-year-old Luthe moved from his training club Bochum to FC Augsburg in 2016, from where he moved on to Union Berlin in 2020. In the summer of 2022, the FCK secured the services of the veteran, who is now moving to his former place of work. In the current season, Luthe was left out on the third and fourth matchdays in Kaiserslautern after a red card suspension, and recently he was no longer in the squad. He will most likely line up behind regular keeper Manuel Riemann (35) at VfL because the actual reserve keeper Michael Esser (36) is out injured.

Regarding further activities on the transfer market, manager Fabian said: “The next few days will not be more exciting than the crime scene on Sunday evening.” But he also explained: “A few things will definitely happen in one direction or the other.” But it may be more likely be about withdrawals rather than additions. “We are working on Moritz Römling finding a club where he can play. And we continue to discuss a possible loan for Mats Pnewig,” said Fabian.

VfL Bochum is keeping an eye out for new signings – Hashioka isn’t coming

“We’ll keep our eyes open. But we won’t do anything because we think we have to do something. We are still convinced that we have players in the squad who are really, really good. We are all convinced that Moritz Kwarteng will play an important and supporting role for us in the future. We won’t bring in a player on loan and put them in front of our players at short notice and thereby block them. We didn’t gain anything with that either. We will continue to work on getting our boys on track,” the former professional continued.

At least there was discussion about growth in the offensive area. But apparently not only that: VV St. Truidens right-back Daiki Hashioka was associated with VfL – in anticipation of the new season. The 24-year-old Japanese feels loud Fabrizio Romano but to Luton Town. Hashioka will soon complete a medical check with the Premier League promoted team and the transfer fee should be 2 million euros. Leeds United and Trabzonspor are also said to have been involved with the professional.
