For Dortmund’s Kjell Wätjen, it goes to VfL Bochum on a loan. The second division team could not announce the transfer quickly enough.

Borussia Dortmund will give young talent Kjell Wätjen to Bundesliga relegation VfL Bochum in the coming season. The midfielder, who was most recently active for the German national team at the U19 European Championship, is to collect as much game practice as possible on Castroper Strasse, the BVB said. A purchase option was expressly not agreed.

Especially: Before the change on a rental base was announced by Bochum on social media at 3:18 p.m., VfL reported with a decisive indication. Under a X contribution by the Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bochum commented at 3:13 p.m.: “Hello Pletti. Also official: We borrow Kjell Wätjen from BVB for one year.”

After official announcement, Bochum’s sports manager Dirk Dufner said in a statement: “Kjell Wätjen is one of the most talented players of his year in Germany.” And further: “With his great potential, we trust him to play an important role within the team straight away.”

Wätjen played mainly in the 3rd division at BVB II last season and was substituted twice in the Bundesliga. Born in Gevelsberger, he moved to the BVB youth department at the age of nine, where he went through all the young teams.
