Longest term in Freiburg

After the contract extension with coach Dieter Hecking, VfL Bochum has created clarity with another important personnel: Dirk Dufner becomes the new managing director of sport; A post that the district club had not filled after the separation from Patrick Fabian for months. The board of directors was agreed in the election of Dufner, according to VfL.
“I am looking forward to a close, trusting and successful collaboration with Dirk Dufner and I am sure that he will help us with his experience and his network to make VfL a little better every day,” explained Managing Director Ilja Kaenzig. Dufner was in the past at TSV 1860 Munich and Hannover 96, but the longest active in management positions at SC Freiburg. Most recently, he was in office at Hertha BSC until two years ago (all Stations of Dufner).
Dufner’s contract is dated to 2027. The 57-year-old said: “I would like to thank you primarily for the trust that those responsible for VfL will put in me in me and lead to tackling this demanding challenge with full energy. Bochum is a great and emotional club that we now want to further develop for the next few years.” Dufner is to be presented personally on April 3, and on April 7th he will start his new office.
