Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle has confirmed that Jamie Leweling will stay at VfB until the end of the season. “We have sporting goals for the second half of the season that we want to achieve. We have clearly defined that. Jamie has also made it very clear personally that a change is not an option for him. Unlike Nick (Woltemade; editor), he absolutely wanted to leave the club. Jamie has a lot planned for us, we are doing well in all three competitions. So we are looking forward to many more games with Jamie Leweling with us,” said the 50-year-old about the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt (3:2) on “Sky”.

Leweling is said to have recently attracted interest from AFC Bournemouth, who are looking for a replacement for Antoine Semenyo, who moved to Manchester City for 72 million euros. In this context, the Premier League club made an offer of 40 million euros for the 24-year-old right winger. But the Swabians are said to have rejected this.
However, Bournemouth was not deterred by the rejection, it was recently said. But Leweling himself had also made it clear with regard to a winter change: “I want to stay here. It’s fun to play football here.” The German international initially moved from Union Berlin to Stuttgart in 2023 on loan for a fee of 200,000 euros, before he was signed a year later for 5 million euros. In December 2024, Leweling extended his contract early until 2029. Since his arrival at VfB, he has increased his market value from 3 million to 25 million euros.

Wehrle only had words of praise for the right winger, who has six goals and seven assists in 26 games this season: “He has helped us develop into a national player. He has incredible dynamism, a great finish and is a very important, central player for our team and Sebastian Hoeneß. He is also a good guy. We value him very much and he feels at home here.”
Wehrle declares VfB Stuttgart’s transfer phase “over”
With Jeremy Arévalo (Racing Santander), VfB strengthened its attack once this winter, Jovan Milosevic (loan to Werder Bremen), Silas (to Mainz 05) and Yannik Keitel (loan to FC Augsburg) left the club. Wehrle made it clear that Stuttgart’s current transfer phase was “over”.
