The DFB Cup victory in May against Arminia Bielefeld (4: 2) was the highlight of her previous career for most professionals from VfB Stuttgart. Some Swabian stars have now rewarded themselves with an additional piece of jewelry and grabbed their pockets quite deep. Deniz Undav, Atakan Karazor, Angelo Stiller and Co. have treated themselves to winning rings made of gold and diamonds.
The exclusive pieces of jewelry come from the Belgian jeweler Yoni Berete. The latter reported to the “picture” how it came to contact with VfB Stuttgart: “Deniz Undav is a good friend of mine. As soon as VfB Stuttgart had qualified for the DFB Cup final, Deniz called me and said I had to design a ring for her.”
The German international himself had turned to the jeweler from Antwerp and is said to have given him on the way: “If we win, I will score a goal and we will put on the rings to celebrate the day.” The striker held word in the final – and crowned his appearance in the Berlin Olympic Stadium with a goal.
The noble pieces of jewelry were finished last week, so at least the Instagram contributions from Yoni Berete suspect it. This posted several videos of the handover of the showy winning rings, each one of which is said to have cost around 30,000 euros. Incidentally, the rings were paid by the VfB professionals themselves.
German model was Bayer Leverkusen
The rings are real unique: On one side you will find the name and rear number of the respective players, placed in a combination of red and white diamonds – a tribute to the famous breast ring of the VfB.
On the other hand, the DFB Cup logo is emblazoned, the club’s coat of arms. But the highlight hides above: the top is removable, portable as a chain pendant and reveals a miniature version of the DFB Cup underneath.
Berete sees more than just jewelry in his rings, as he explained in the “Bild”: “My goal is to make this concept a new trend in European football. Since football is the coolest sport in the world, his trophies should also reflect this.”
While such rings have long been a tradition in US sports, the idea in Germany is still new. Leverkusen had his double heroes present last year, and Stuttgart is now following.
