Mika Baur is starting this season with the second division soccer team SC Paderborn. The central midfielder is now said to have aroused interest from other clubs – including VfB Stuttgart.

As “Transfermarkt” reports, Mika Baur has received “many inquiries from Germany and abroad”.

VfB Stuttgart from the Bundesliga and Club Bruges from Belgium are mentioned by name. The interest of the two clubs is the most concrete; discussions with the players’ side are said to have already taken place.

How long Baur will be contractually bound to SC Paderborn has not been officially communicated. According to the report, the 21-year-old’s working paper is dated until 2027.

However, SC Freiburg is said to have a buyback option for next summer. The Breisgauers transferred Baur, who had previously only been used in the second team, to Paderborn in the summer of 2024. Only 100,000 euros changed hands at that time.

Baur initially had a hard time with the SCP. In the second half of last season he was loaned to Dynamo Dresden.

Since his return to Paderborn, the youngster has been with the East Westphalians. In the current season he has made 17 competitive appearances. There are two goals and four assists.

Mika Baur as “big winner of the season so far”

Baur was nominated for the first time by U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo in November. However, he remained unused. He previously played eight duels for the U20 team.

“Mika Baur is one of the big winners of the season so far,” said “Transfermarkt” market value coordinator Tobias Kröger and added: “He has now finally made the breakthrough and regularly draws attention to himself with strong performances. His outstanding technique in particular should arouse interest from one or two clubs.”
