VfB Stuttgart extends contract with goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow

35 games since 2019

VfB Stuttgart has extended goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow’s contract, which expires at the end of the season, until 2026. The keeper, who came from Nuremberg in 2019, has since played 35 competitive games for the Swabians, 20 of them in the Bundesliga. After Alexander Nübel was signed, the 28-year-old lost the regular place between the posts that he had occupied during the second half of the 2022/23 season.

“I am grateful and happy that the club approached me and wanted to extend the contract. It’s a vote of confidence that I’m very happy about. I didn’t have to think about it for long. I feel completely at home here at VfB and with my family in Stuttgart. “I will keep pushing and support the team, especially Alex, as best as I can,” explained Bredlow, who more than doubled his market value over the past year.

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth said: “Fabian Bredlow has been the constant within our goalkeeping team for many years. He identifies with VfB and the region and is an important factor in our squad both on and off the pitch thanks to his footballing skills, his exemplary work ethic and his personality. We are very pleased that Fabi has extended his contract early.”
