VfB Stuttgart: Due to non-relegation – clause turns loanee into permanent VfB player

Another top performer is now under a long-term contract with VfB Stuttgart. The previous loan player Anthony Rouault remains with the surprise team in the Bundesliga. The decisive factor for this was an obligation to purchase clause in the contract.

Anthony Rouault came to the Neckar on loan from FC Toulouse last summer. It has been clear for a few days now: the Frenchman will remain at VfB Stuttgart. Since the Swabians can no longer be relegated or land in the relegation place after their own victory in Wolfsburg and the defeat of 1. FC Köln, a purchase clause is activated in the 22-year-old’s contract.

The loan will therefore automatically be converted into a permanent contract with the Bundesliga club. This is what “Bild” reports. Accordingly, Stuttgart now has to transfer three million euros to Toulouse.

Anthony Rouault plays an important role at VfB Stuttgart

The two clubs had already agreed on this mechanism in the deal in the summer, which was completed on Deadline Day.

In the current Bundesliga season, Rouault has made 17 league appearances and has started nine times. The defender has scored two assists so far. Thanks to his calm playing style, he quickly established himself in Stuttgart. Since the loss of defensive colleague Dan-Axel Zagadou, Rouault’s role in the team has become even more important. The Frenchman can play both centrally and on the right side.

The central defender broke his nose in the game against SC Freiburg and is currently playing with a face mask.

VfB Stuttgart is surprisingly in third place in the Bundesliga table with 50 points and can dream of the Champions League. The points tally is the best in the club’s history; even in the three championship seasons, VfB has never had 50 points after 24 match days.
