Verstappen’s pole position at the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix



Dutch Max Verstappen from Red Bull team won the pole position in the 11th leg of the Formula 1 World Championship at the Austrian Grand Prix.


The defending champion Verstappen set the fastest lap with a time of 1 minute 4.984 seconds in the qualifying laps held on the 4.3 km Red Bull Circuit in Spielberg.


Ferrari’s Monaco driver Charles Leclerc took second place, 0.029 seconds behind the leader, and his teammate, Spaniard Carlos Sainz, laps 0.082 seconds slower than Verstappen and took third place.


In the final session of qualifying, Mercedes’ British drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell crashed.


The sprint race, which will determine from which pocket the pilots will start the Austrian Grand Prix, will be held at 17.30 CEST tomorrow.


The pilots who finish the sprint challenge in the top 8 places will be given points from 1 to 8. The 71-lap race will start on Sunday, July 10 at 16:00 CEST.
