Verstappen would have preferred to finish ‘heavy race’ in a controlled manner | 1Limburg

Max Verstappen would have preferred to finish the “tough race” in Miami in a controlled manner. A safety car after three quarters of the Miami Grand Prix ensured an exciting final phase, in which the world champion and his rival Charles Leclerc once again provided a beautiful spectacle.

“This one was very nice, but it was very heavy. They started counting after fifteen laps. It was great, but the safety car did not help. Otherwise I could have finished the race in a controlled manner. Now it was exciting for everyone.” , said Verstappen in front of Viaplay’s camera.

Verstappen appeared unthreatened to drive to his third win of the season when a crash between Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly resulted in a safety car. It completely brought the tension back to the game. “On hard tires it was close together”, Verstappen acknowledged.

‘I had a bit of a hard time’
“It was difficult to be very consistent because it was very tough. So you couldn’t push too much and I was feeling a little bit. I had a bit of a hard time after the safety car, but when the tires were warm, the good.”

Satisfied team boss
Team boss Christian Horner was a satisfied man, now that the gap with Leclerc has been reduced to 19 points. “Max’s recovery is good after Friday. He had a good start and used to overtake Leclerc when he had to,” said Horner. “The blood pressure has already risen considerably. It will be another year just like last year and that is only good for the sport.”

The next race is in two weeks, in Barcelona and it can be followed live on L1.
