For darts superstar Michael van Gerwen, things are not going well at the moment. Shoulder problems were recently troubled by the triple world champion. In the Premier League, the Dutch must worry about moving into the playoffs. “Mighty Mike” remains combative.

After ten out of 16 match days, Michael van Gerwen ranks with 15 points in the fifth place in the Premier League Darts. So far, the 35-year-old has not been able to win a day. Nine missed “MVG” in Berlin in a week due to shoulder problems.

He is now “pain -free” again, Van Gerwen revealed to “Sky Sports” before the home game in Rotterdam on Thursday evening. “It’s still a bit stiff, but it’s nothing that affects my darts,” said the Dutch.

Van Gerwen does not want to put up despite the difficult situation. “You have to cope with the circumstances and I have to make sure that I have things under control and that I still have the fire in my stomach. And it still has something to do with me,” said the darts.

In any case, van Gerwen still feels enough motivation: “The anger is still there if you don’t bring a hundred percent performance. I think that’s a good thing, there is still a lot to fight and work for it.”

Van Gerwen reveals: “Not the most pleasant moment in my career”

It is “not the most pleasant moment in my career when you look at it from this perspective. But I never give up. I will fight for everything. I know that it is still possible,” said the world champion unequivocally.

In such a phase you have to “hold on to your own belief. And as long as you can do it, there is still a lot possible,” said van Gerwen.

He still firmly believes to make it among the top four in the Premier League Darts and thus qualify for the playoffs, he added. Van Gerwen meets Stephen Bunting on Thursday in the quarter -finals.
