The collision between a small van and a lorry caused the death of seven PAOK fans in Thessaloniki. According to blood tests and some testimonies, the driver of the van may have taken prohibited substances
The first details emerge that could indicate a cause behind the inexplicable maneuver that caused the a head-on crash in which seven people died. The incident happened in the western part of Romania (near the border with Hungary), in the town of Lugojel. The victims were on board a minivan, they were fans of the Greek football team Paok of Thessaloniki. They were traveling to the south of France, heading to Lyon, to watch the match against Olympique. As can be seen in the video on this page, taken by a camera on board a lorry, in a very strange maneuver at the end of an overtaking (of the lorry which had the camera which was the source of these images) the van invaded the opposite lane, colliding with a lorry.

There were 10 people traveling on board the van, seven died and the other three were very seriously injured. From the blood tests carried out on the body of the van driver, it appears that he had taken drugs. Investigators also found alcohol and drugs in the remains of the vehicle. Furthermore, one of the surviving passengers reportedly told the authorities that he had seen the driver smoking a cigarette containing cannabis.
