Valtteri Bottas regretted taking the top spot

Alfa Romeo’s Finnish driver was seventh, but there were even better ones.

At this point, Mersut was still behind Bottas. AOP

Miami GP

1. Max Verstappen, Red Bull

2. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari

3. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari

4. Sergio Perez, Red Bull

5. George Russell, Mercedes

6. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes

7. Valtteri Bottas, Alfa Romeo

8. Esteban Ocon, Alpine

9. Fernando Alonso, Alpine

10. Alex Albon, Williams

In different circumstances, Valtteri Bottas’ seventh place would be a real day of joy and happiness.

Now the performance has a bitter taste. Without an equally wide brake, the ranking could have been two notches better.

A wide bend in the final stages of the race put both Mercedes ahead.

What happened? Bottas was the first to respond to this in an interview with Viaplay.

– One of the brakes went a little long and here when you get off the line the grip is bad. Your car was under the control, I couldn’t do anything and I hit the wall, Bottas repeated.

Luck was on the way too, the hit didn’t break the car.

Bottas was not the only driver to make a similar mistake on the same bend. On the Miami track, leaching from the driving line immediately knew the problems.

– I had to be careful and try to stay on the line. When it stayed, there were no problems. Slipping a little at the wrong time, Bottas pointed to the end of the safety car episode and the proximity of the Mersu drivers.

However, Bottas did not mourn his fate, and he saw the bright side of the matter in the big picture.

– Got good points, Bottas smiled at his six-point prey.

Alfa Romeo should trust its Finnish drivers. Out of 31 points, Bottas has brought in as many as 30. It is entirely thanks to Bottas that the team is in the Fifth series of manufacturers.

– We have a good pace and it was a great thing that we were able to fight Mersu. There is a positive feeling in the stable and it is good to move on from this, Bottas finished another puck classic.
