Since November 2023, the UWV has made calculation errors, so that some people who receive a disability benefit may have missed money. This is what the government service for employee insurance policies announced on Monday in a press release.
The calculation errors have arisen in the index figures used to calculate the ‘sizes’ wage: the wage that someone would have earned if the person had not (partially) become incapacitated for work. The Maatmanloon is then used in the calculation of the disability percentage, the extent to which someone is unable to work.
By using the wrong index figures, which show the rise in wages in the Netherlands, it could be that people who receive benefits have just ended up in another category of degree of disability.
Size unclear
According to a spokesperson for the UWV, it is more likely that people have received too little than too much. According to the spokesperson, the calculation errors have led from a number of insurance policies to incorrect assessments of the disability in a “few percent” of the new benefit applications (since November 2023).
It is not clear how many people are doing and whether beneficiaries have received too much or too little from the UWV. According to the government service, the problem has been remedied from mid -March, in mid -April the UWV expects the results of an investigation into the calculation errors. In total, more than 1.2 million people receive one of the benefits that the UWV offers.
The UWV was discredited last year when it turned out that mistakes were made in the assessment of applications from WIA benefits. It is estimated that 25,000 to 50,000 people received incorrect amounts as a result.
