US Supreme Court judge hospitalized

Clarence Thomas, one of the nine justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, was hospitalized on Friday. He had flu-like symptoms and has been diagnosed with an infection, the court said in a statement Sunday evening (local time).

It is unknown what the infection is, but the symptoms of 73-year-old Thomas are diminishing and he is expected to be able to go home in a few days.

Thomas has been a member of the Supreme Court since 1991 and is now the longest serving judge there. He is known as the most conservative member of the court.
