In a new interview, Mick Jagger announced that “Hackney Diamonds”, the new Rolling Stones album that will be released on October 20, 2023, would soon be followed by a new one: they are already two-thirds of the way through the work.
“We are not finished yet. This will not be our last work,” Jagger said on the Canadian “Q with Tom Power” podcast.
The 80-year-old also spoke about the studio collaboration with Paul McCartney, 81. “Paul was in Los Angeles when we recorded there. He wanted to work with Andrew Watt, our producer. So Andy suggested inviting Paul to join us straight away. We suggested a song to him and he really rocked it. We were all in the studio together.”
Jagger also compared Macca to his former Beatles colleague John Lennon: “It all felt so natural. Paul was relaxed. John was a close friend of mine – and he was more of the harsh type. Paul is different. We don’t see each other often, but we text each other often.”

The Rolling Stones had thoroughly prepared the release of their upcoming album “Hackney Diamonds”: First a Q+A with talk show host Jimmy Fallon, then the new single “Angry” including a video – and now the announcement of a making-of film for the new record.
Mick Jagger, 80, Keith Richards, 79, and Ronnie Wood, 76, were accompanied by a documentary team that is behind the series “The Kardashians”, Fulwell 73. The trio around the three Stones is said to be in the film, like the British one “Mirror” reports also remember the late drummer Charlie Watts.
“Stones fans can rejoice because not only are they getting a new album but also a documentary,” a source told The Sun. “The film will give fans an intimate and honest look at what Mick, Keith and Ronnie do in the studio, including the banter between them.” The documentary also contains “scenes from their big press event at the Hackney Empire, where they presented the video for ‘Angry’ with Sydney Sweeney.”
It is still unknown when the as yet untitled documentary will be released.

Fast studio work
Why did it end up happening so quickly once the band was finally in the studio? Jagger explains it this way: “I said to Keith, ‘If we don’t have a deadline, we’re never going to finish this record.’ So I was like, ‘The deadline is Valentine’s Day 2023. And then we’ll go on tour with it. That’s what we’ve always had to do. You know, you have to finish ‘Exile on Main Street’ because you have a tour booked.”
In conversation, Richards calls the recording process a “blitzkrieg”: “We worked quickly, but that was the idea,” says the guitarist, who adds with a laugh: “I’m still recovering.”
