The AfD is winning over more and more voters. According to two recent surveys, it is now the second strongest political party in Germany. Eko Fresh is also concerned about this development.
The rapper expresses his point of view in an interview with the local daily newspaper “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”. “It depresses me. It’s a time when many people are unsettled,” says the musician in an interview.
Eko Fresh, whose family comes from Turkey, regularly positions himself on political and social issues. Despite his clear point of view, he tries to look at developments from all perspectives. He is aware that the current zeitgeist certainly favors a right-wing ideology. “The fact that everything stays the same, taxes fall, fewer foreigners come into the country” would be well received by citizens at the moment, says the Cologne resident. In contrast, left-wing politics is often “about giving away or giving a moral finger: Take care of nature, give away some of your wealth, be open to immigration and something like that.” That would put many people off, says the rapper. In his opinion, nationalism and populism themes seem more comfortable.
The results of the Mannheim “Elections” research group in the current ZDF political barometer reveal that the AfD has gained one percentage point. The current 21 percent is not only the party’s own highest figure, but also clearly makes it the second strongest federal political force. And in the survey by “Infratest dimap” for the Germany trend of the ARD “Morgenmagazin”, the AfD also landed at 22 percent.
