Tree occupation in the Wuhlheide!

Since 5 p.m., 30 to 50 environmental activists have been occupying several trees in a forest area between An der Wuhlheide and Rudolf-Rühl-Allee.

They are demonstrating against the clearing of the forest for the construction of the East Tangential Connection. The road is to connect the Märkische Allee B158 with the Spindlersfelder Bridge.

They have already built several tree houses. In addition, they should set up barricades on the access roads to make it difficult for the police to get there.

A call to support the squatters is also circulating online. “Come by now and fight with us for the immediate planning stop of the TVO,” it says. Also: “We have no desire for even more surface sealing, fine dust, greenhouse gas and noise emissions and are standing in the way of this plan.”

The occupation sees itself as queer-feminist, anti-capitalist and sees itself as part of the international struggle for a good life for all, the activists write about themselves.

The police are on site with emergency services. An evacuation is currently not planned.
