Status: 05/30/2023 08:54 a.m

The long hanging game has now apparently come to an end. The Bavarian Football Association has reported SpVgg Unterhaching for the third division promotion games. This means that the opponent of Northeast champions Energie Cottbus has been determined.

The opponent of regional league north-east champions Energie Cottbus in the promotion games to the 3rd league has finally been determined. The SpVgg Unterhaching will compete against the Lausitzer as champions of the Bavarian Regionalliga. This was announced by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) on Monday (05/29/2023). The BFV “reported its participants in the promotion games to the 3rd division to the DFB in a timely manner,” said a spokesman for the association on request.

Games on June 7th and 11th

The games are dated June 7th (Wednesday) and June 11th (Sunday). The first leg takes place at the Northeast representative Cottbus. The decision will then be made in the second leg in Unterhaching.

Bayern second Würzburg already in the summer break

The Hachinger of the outgoing coach Sandro Wagner had hesitated for a long time to participate – among other things for financial reasons. The deadline for the BFV to report expired on Saturday evening (May 27) at midnight. If the former Bundesliga club Unterhaching had given up, the Würzburger Kickers could have moved up as second in the Regionalliga Bayern. The Lower Franconia are already in the summer break.

Cottbus coach Wollitz scolds

Cottbus coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz criticized after Energie’s 0-0 draw in the last Regionalliga Nordost game at Chemie Leipzig on Sunday (05/29/2023) the behavior of the hesitant Hachinger once again. “I appreciate the President of Unterhaching as a sincere, respectful person. But he also has a responsibility towards Energie Cottbus,” said Wollitz to the address of Haching President Manfred Schwabl.

Unterhaching: Not in the 3rd division at any price

Schwabl himself was still on the show on Sunday evening Sports focus of Bayerischer Rundfunk explained again that his club is aiming to return to the 3rd division, but does not want to climb up at any price. “Reductions in the youth academy are not up for discussion. It’s a taboo subject for us, just like infrastructure. If that remains untouched and we can clear the DFB hurdles, then of course we’ll go into relegation,” said Schwabl.
