And now Karina has taken another step further. A Zandvoort family, who prefers to remain anonymous, recently showed her two games by Simon Paap. “I thought: wow, when I saw them. It is a very small domino game made of brass and it is still completely intact. The box is also made of wood. The other is a kind of checkers game, but with colored pins. He probably has that made and painted myself.”
After the death of Simon Paap at the age of 39, the games remained within his family. “They have always kept it very well and it was unique that I was allowed to take a look at it,” says the Zandvoort resident. “I think he took them on trips to his performances.”
