Bad surprise for the RBB bosses: Tomorrow, Friday, the station will only broadcast canned music and TV repeats. The employees go on strike at 5 a.m. Because collective bargaining failed.
The unions only want to spread the call for a strike at night. So that the broadcaster cannot prepare for the walkout.
BZ learned: From 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., radio and TV will be on strike. This means that department heads have to read the news themselves, current reports are no longer required.

Music stations such as Antenne Brandenburg and the RBB Kulturradio only play canned audio. Because the employees want to take to the streets: According to BZ information, there will be a strike rally in front of the RBB headquarters on Masurenallee at 1 p.m.
The reason for the walkout: the collective bargaining for the RBB collapsed on Thursday. The Verdi union is demanding 500 euros more per month, the journalists’ association 6 percent and “appropriate inflation compensation”. But the broadcaster refuses, offers only 1.9 percent and up to 2000 euros one-time payment.
Bitter for the 1400 freelancers. They earn significantly less than the 2000 permanent employees. Berlin’s state audit office had already determined in 2018 that the scandal broadcaster pays its employees much better than the public sector. That should change with the new broadcasting state contract this year.
